Summary
The Chancellor’s Grant for Faculty Development in Administrative Roles supports full-time, tenured faculty members for professional administrative development in their first year in a new administrative role. Eligibility is for those in roles commensurate to that of a department chair, associate dean, dean, or above. Prospective applicants must identify the administrative development opportunity and have the support of the immediate supervisor. It is intended that the applicant’s respective area will provide some funding to support the applicant.

Criteria:
The Chancellor's Grant for Faculty Development at Rutgers University–Camden is intended to provide support for full-time, tenured faculty members who are transitioning into new administrative roles within the university. To be eligible for this grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Full-Time Tenured Faculty:
Applicants must hold a full-time, tenured faculty position at Rutgers University–Camden.
New Administrative Role:
- Applicants should be transitioning into a new administrative role within the university or have transitioned within the past year.
- Eligible roles include positions commensurate with a department chair, associate dean, dean, center/institute director, or above.
Development Opportunity:
- Prospective applicants must identify a specific administrative development opportunity that aligns with their new role.
- This opportunity should support their professional growth and effectiveness in the administrative position. Funds can be used for administrative development at professional conference or through professional institute or center.
Immediate Supervisor's Support:
- Applicants are required to obtain the support and endorsement of their immediate supervisor, such as the department chair or dean. Funds can be used for administrative development at professional conferences or through professional institute centers.
- The supervisor should confirm the applicant's readiness and the potential benefits of the development opportunity.
Financial Support from the Respective Area:
- It is expected that the applicant's respective academic department, center, institute, or administrative area will provide some funding or support for the applicant's development.
- The applicant should demonstrate the commitment of their area to invest in their professional growth.
Alignment with Academic Goals:
The proposed development opportunity should align with the applicant's academic and administrative responsibilities, contributing to the university's mission and goals.
Application Process:
Step 1: Development Opportunity Identification
- Applicants identify a specific administrative development opportunity that aligns with their new administrative role.
- The opportunity should contribute to their professional growth, effectiveness in the role, and the university's mission.
Step 2: Immediate Supervisor's Support
- Applicants secure the support and endorsement of their immediate supervisor.
- The supervisor should confirm the applicant's readiness for the new role and the potential benefits of the development opportunity.
Step 3: Budget Proposal Development
- Applicants create a comprehensive budget proposal that outlines the estimated costs associated with the development opportunity.
- Budgets should include expenses such as registration fees, materials, travel, accommodation, and any other relevant costs.
Step 4: Application Submission
Completed applications, including the development opportunity description, statement of purpose, immediate supervisor's endorsement, and budget proposal, are submitted by the specified deadline.
Step 5: Application Review
- A review committee assesses the applications.
- Applications are evaluated based on eligibility, the quality and relevance of the development opportunity, alignment with academic and administrative goals, and the potential benefits to the applicant and the university.
Step 6: Award Notification
- Successful applicants are notified through official award notifications.
- The notification includes details about the grant, expectations, and funding disbursement. Proof of attendance acceptance is required before funding is disbursed via the Chancellor's Office.
Step 7: Reporting and Accountability
- Upon completing the development opportunity, grant recipients provide a summary report detailing the outcomes and how the experience has contributed to their administrative and professional development.
