Our faculty members are committed to innovative teaching at every level — undergraduate, master’s and doctoral — and inspired by the ideas and opinions of their students. This faculty mentorship, where professors and students share the excitement of discovery, is a hallmark at Rutgers–Camden.
Research
As a leading R2 research institution, our students have an unprecedented opportunity for hands-on research. Because we are a small, engaged community, students are participating in cutting-edge faculty research from as early as their sophomore year.
The Research Office
The Research Office at Rutgers–Camden supports research, in all its forms, across the campus by assisting students, faculty and staff to identify appropriate funding and collaborative opportunities to advance their work. From ideation to submission, our office staff will be with you every step of the way.
By the Numbers
Graduate Research
From psychology and biology to childhood studies and public affairs, our graduate students have led research projects across a wide range of disciplines. As an initial step, interested students should reach out to their graduate program directors. Our team of fellowship advisors is available to help with external funding opportunities as well.
Undergraduate Research
There are many ways undergraduate students can get involved with research: Take a research-intensive course, assist your professor with research, or launch your own independent research project. Whichever path you choose, research requires students to solve problems, think critically and write persuasively — skills that all employers value.
Scholar Development and Fellowship Advising
The Office of Scholar Development and Fellowship Advising helps undergraduate students identify and apply for prestigious awards and national fellowships that fund graduate training, public service internships, laboratory and field research, study abroad experiences, and professional opportunities.
Research Symposium
Throughout the year, the Research Office collaborates with other offices to host research events to highlight the exciting work of our faculty, staff and students. These events are open to the entire campus community, and students are encouraged to participate and learn more about ongoing research and creative activities.
How to Get Started
Students who have identified research interests should connect with faculty members whose research topics match their interests. Faculty members can provide students mentorship on research and writing, career advice, and offer valuable academic feedback. Faculty members can guide undergraduate students in developing research skills and constructing independent research projects. Developing relationships with faculty members is an important process that can connect students to future opportunities.
